Lots of people want to become doctors. Why? Do they really want to help people? I suppose to start with they have wonderful ideas and visions for they course their career will take them. Then once they achive their goal the relentlessness of it numbs them to the pain around them.
Now does that sound sanctimonious or what.
Last week I went back to hospital for a check up on my wrist. My wrist does not bother me too much, it is frozen and refuses to move in any direction. BUT MY HAND is another matter. It is swollen and burns. It is also a mottled purple colour. Somehow it has forgotten what hot and cold should register as. I still cannot flex my fingers.
I made my complaints to the doctor as he looked at the x-ray just taken.
Casually he says 'you have RDS, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and you will need intensive physiotherapy.' He closes my file calls a nurse and passes me off to her to get the physiotherapist.
The Bastard Doctor did not even bother to explain anything. He was gone.
It will take at least 12 months if I am lucky to get my hand back to normal. Then again I could have this condition for years.
I had to look this RDS up on the internet, (a round of applause for the internet)and I know more about this condition than my local physio, different one to the one at the hospital. She wanted me to try and squeeze a tennis ball. Oh Yeah??? My hand is swollen, my fingers stiff and if I touch anything I just about go through the roof with the pain.
I also have to exersie my arms as they have lost muscle tone.
On a lighter note Bush just got his arse kicked.
So I am not the only one suffering.
