Our new German Shep we called Freddie but he want answer to it so we have decided that we will call him Redd which was what his previous owners called him. At least he answers to it. Must admit I do not like the name but if he comes when called that is all that matters.
We have had to put some effort into training him as he is at times a bad boy. He bit Tom on the arm when Tom ruffled his ears. We now realize that there was a problem, the poor boy had an ear infection so it must have hurt him when Tom touched him. We are giviing him the benefit of the doubt. But still a bite was a bit extreme, the snarl he gave first should have warned Tom. Tom went to pat him and thats when Redd bit. We were quite shocked. Oddly Redd then came over to me and sat beside me leaning into me. I patted his side and he lay down.
Redd has never snarled or growled at me. He has growled at Tom a few occations. Redd will even stop barking when I tell him to. He does not want to when Tom tells him to be quiet.
We have had two German Sheps before and they both would do what Tom said and ignored me mostly. So strange to have it the other way round. I wonder why that is.
