but after a few months, she lost interest in him, started to sleep all the time, and eventually stopped eating: that was the point when we called the vet, and we lost her the same day: but we had a chance to tell her that we loved her, and to thank her for brightening our lives: she had been with me since she was 6 weeks old, and losing her was almost too much to bear. as long as your friend is happy to be around, and your vet does not feel that they are suffering, let them do as much as they are able: but when the time comes and you have to let them go, let them go quickly, and with a monimum of fuss... the only regret I have is that the vet asked if I wanted sis's collar, and I said "yes" - but didn't get chance to tell her to leave it on until after she had gone, as Sis only ever had her collar taken off for a bath, and would get stressed and upset when we took it off.

I hope that Jerry Lee is able to enjoy being with you for a while yet: and that when the time comes, he has a peaceful end.

I cared for her until her body gave out and she died. I carried her up the stairs, down the stairs, I made little doggy diapers so she could do her business in them during the night as her wee doggy mind didn't remember to wait till morning. We went for short walks as she could not manage otherwise.

My Anna found pleasure and life worth living even when she was old and stiff.

She loved to roll on the grass outside of our house and delighted in seeing me each and every day. For her, this was worth living for as she enjoyed these simplest pleasures.

I understand your dilemma and I say this to you. Let Jerry Lee tell you when to let him go. You will know what I mean when the time comes.

And remember that his standards for his quality of life is measured differently then yours. As we age, we do not move as smoothly as we used to.

I'll be thinking of you....good luck and enjoy every moment you can with him.

And I must tell you that I had 3 cats that died at home. They were siblings and about 17 years old when they peacefully passed away merely 3 months in between the first death and the last death.

I learned that death is not something to be frightened of but is something that can be a beautiful rite of passage as you help someone leave this world and move onto the next.
For true multi-culturalism you cant invite people to live in your country and then forget they have ever existed.
yes the palestinians were there always - as for a state - it existed under other empires mostly - but the name palestine was always used as a term of reference for that region - jerusalem was also a title used to describe a great part of that area

that was very general - i know sorry - the palestinians were promised freedom from the ottoman empire if they helped the brits against the ottos - but then they were betrayed because quite frankly arabs are nothing when compared to the american jews - if you have money, are educated in diplomacy then you can get what you want

the american jews were brought into the equation by the european zionists who had concluded that the time had come for a state for jews - the americans in general thought a pro american outpost in the middle east would be economically sensible, lucrative for them - so they pressured the brits to get out of palestine - its more complicated than what i have told you but this is the general synopsis

palestinians would live amongst jews in peace if they were not treated as second class citizens - and not only that - some extremist jewish leaders have openly called palestinians dogs who should be exterminated!

there are nutters on all sides

but i believe the palestinians just want justice

the rest would be history

as for pakistan - it means land of pure

india is a brit version of a term used by arabs to describe the sub-continent - al hind

in india - they call their country - hindustan - land of hindus?

pakistan is not the backward, terrorist training camp that some would love for us to believe

it is beautiful - very much like switzerland in the north

and in the south an ancient desert - and dotted around are modern cities

it is also the exotic place of dreams

and yes there is the bad side too - poverty sadness exist there just like anywhere else

why would anyone want to live in dreams only? india is a facade if you think it is modern, exciting to the senses and nothing else

i'm sorry but people should wake up and try to learn about the people in other places that they judge with no evidence

that is what gives you life - knowledge

and yes i agree iran isnt as exciting as the word persia

but what we imagine of a place can be an illusion

i have learnt to break illusions - i was angry with israel(not jews- i am not anti semetic) but i try to look beyond the brutality and remember the ordinary souls

but for arabs in general israel conjures up shootings, massacres, bondage - a hatred

it is a cycle but both peoples need to wake up and break it up

some would like us to believe that india was a whole country always - it was never that

india is forcefully held together - pakistan kashmir are not the only problems indai has faced

anyway i should stop sorry for the long comment

peace

In response to:Ahmadinejad does his thing

When I was a child, my school atlas had a country called Palestine in it.
